Charges: Possession of Alcohol by a Person Under 21 Years of Age
A Gainesville Police Department officer observed an individual under the age of 21 holding a cup of rum and coke. The officer noted that the contents had the smell and consistency of an alcoholic beverage. The officer issued a misdemeanor citation to the individual.
The individual retained Meldon Law and we were able to negotiate with the State Attorney’s office to allow the individual to enroll in a deferred prosecution program. This program enabled the individual to either make monetary donations and payments to charitable organizations or complete community service. The individual successfully completed the requirements of the deferred prosecution program and the State Attorney’s office dropped all charges against the individual. The individual was eligible and opted to expunge this from his record.
