Ocala Driver Has Driving Charge Dropped
An Ocala Police Department conducted a traffic stop around the 300 blocks of Southeast 17th street on a motor vehicle after running the license plate of the vehicle and finding that the registered owner of the vehicle did not have a valid license. The officer then made contact with the driver of the vehicle who stated they did not know that their license was suspended, a license check confirmed that the driver’s license was suspended. The driver was ultimately issued a uniform traffic citation for driving while license suspended and given a court date.
The driver hired Meldon Law. The attorney at Meldon reviewed the Uniform Traffic Citation and driver’s record and then spoke with the prosecutor. The attorney was then able to negotiate a resolution that resulted in the charge being dropped based on the State being unable to prove that the driver had knowledge that their driver’s license was suspended.
